Their portfolio includes Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. This team’s vision is to craft the data platform for the AI-driven era, supporting a new generation of data-centric applications and cultivating a strong data-first culture.

Within Azure Data, the Microsoft Fabric platform team is responsible for creating and sustaining the foundational operating system that offers customers a unified data stack to manage their comprehensive data estates. This platform ensures consistency in experience, governance, business models, and architecture.

The OneLake team is focused on developing the unified logical data lake central to the Microsoft Fabric platform, commonly referred to as the ‘OneDrive for data.’ This service provides a single SaaS-based multi-cloud data lake seamlessly integrated with every Fabric tenant. It eliminates data storage silos and facilitates effortless data sharing across workloads. Based on Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, OneLake supports open data formats like Delta Parquet, enabling multiple analytics engines such as T-SQL, Apache Spark, and Analysis Services to operate on shared data without duplication.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

• Architect and develop scalable backend systems that deliver high availability, low latency, and robustness across multiple cloud environments.
• Take full ownership of software components from requirements analysis through development, testing, deployment, and post-release maintenance.
• Work collaboratively across teams including engineering, product management, and customer engagement to deliver features that simplify data access and governance for a global user base.
• Integrate security, compliance, and observability consistently throughout the development lifecycle to ensure operational excellence and enable governed self-service.
• Drive innovation by applying AI-centric development methodologies and leveraging modern technologies such as C#, Service Fabric, Spark, and Kusto to enhance both quality and efficiency.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, complemented by at least 2 years of engineering experience designing and building scalable, reliable software solutions using languages including but not limited to C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or possessing equivalent expertise.
• Proven experience in developing cloud-based services.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills to solve complex technical problems.
• Ability to fulfill Microsoft's security requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check initially and every two years thereafter.
