Overview
This role is exempt from the federal civilian hiring freeze and invites individuals with an engineering background to begin a career in federal law enforcement with the FBI. Your analytical mindset, problem-solving ability, and expertise in data handling will be crucial to investigating violent crimes, cyber threats, terrorism, fraud, and various national security risks.
Role Description
You will harness your experience with data analysis, attention to detail, and understanding of complex datasets to identify patterns, extract valuable intelligence, and support investigations protecting public safety. Transitioning from engineering, you will develop critical thinking skills and adapt to varied and challenging federal law enforcement scenarios.
Career Development and Environment
The FBI provides a professional environment promoting your growth, competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and resources to maintain work-life balance. Your skills will continually evolve along with your impact within the agency.
How Engineering Skills Translate
Your engineering background has trained you to process information systematically and solve problems. Familiarity with languages and platforms like JavaScript, MATLAB, HTML, as well as knowledge in algorithms, deep learning, and machine learning, supports analytical thinking and adaptability required for the role. What was data in your past work becomes actionable evidence here, where you lead investigations instead of supporting them.
Application Process
- Submit a resume highlighting relevant experience with start and end dates, limited to two pages.
- Include supporting documents such as college transcripts and veterans' discharge papers where applicable.
- Complete all application sections and attach the required documents as outlined during the application steps.
