About the Role
We are seeking compassionate Support Workers to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities in Whangārei. These part-time positions offer a chance to significantly impact lives by fostering independence and engagement in daily activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the development of life skills such as using public transport and cooking meals.
- Provide assistance with personal care, including showering, dressing, and medication management.
- Encourage participation in hobbies, interests, and personal aspirations.
- Promote health and wellbeing tailored to individual needs.
- Offer calm and respectful support for managing complex behaviours.
- Help strengthen social connections with family, colleagues, and the community.
Required Attributes and Experience
- Previous experience in a Support Worker role is advantageous, but a positive attitude and empathy are essential.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including days, evenings, overnight sleepovers, and weekends.
- Confidence and composure when addressing challenging behaviours.
- Proficiency with computers and tablets for daily use.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Physical capability to provide hands-on support.
- Possession of a full New Zealand driver's licence.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly rate from $24.68 to $30.13 depending on qualifications, with further earning potential through additional certifications.
- Support to attain Level 2, 3, and 4 Certificates in Health and Wellbeing.
