Job Overview
The Virtual Medical Assistant position involves providing comprehensive support to medical practices remotely. The role requires strong organisational skills, professionalism, and the ability to handle medical administrative tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage patient appointments including scheduling, confirming, and rescheduling.
- Respond to patient inquiries via phone, email, and secure messaging platforms with professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain and update patient data accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Support medical billing activities such as insurance verification and claim processing.
- Transcribe medical dictations, clinical notes, and other relevant documentation.
- Collaborate with pharmacies to handle prescription refills and related queries.
- Provide general administrative assistance to healthcare providers and clinicians.
- Uphold strict patient confidentiality and compliance with data protection laws.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in roles such as Medical Assistant or Medical Secretary or similar healthcare administration functions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and healthcare regulations.
- Proficient in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and practice management software.
- Strong written and verbal communication capabilities.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in a remote environment.
- High regard for discretion and patient confidentiality.
- Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated private workspace at home.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (e.g., CMA, RMA) is an advantageous qualification.
Compensation and Benefits
