Internship Overview
This internship offers hands-on experience in designing and developing 3D mechanical components and assemblies using industry-standard CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, and Autodesk Inventor. The role includes producing detailed manufacturing drawings with GD&T annotations and generating CAM toolpaths for CNC machining operations including milling and turning. Further responsibilities involve simulating machining strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, and conducting finite element analysis to validate and improve designs.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and optimize 3D mechanical parts and systems utilizing CAD tools.
- Prepare precise manufacturing drawings adhering to engineering standards.
- Develop and refine CAM toolpaths to enhance CNC machining efficiency.
- Simulate G-code and machining processes for accuracy and resource optimization.
- Work alongside design, production, and quality assurance teams to maintain cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.
- Perform finite element analyses to assess stress and thermal properties of designs.
- Continuously improve existing parts by reducing weight and simplifying assembly.
- Document procedures and maintain design databases for revisions and version control.
- Troubleshoot CNC machining issues collaborating directly with machine operators.
- Ensure designs comply with standards such as ISO, ASME, and BIS and participate in design for manufacturing and assembly reviews.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Mechatronics.
- 0 to 1 year experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, or product development.
- Skilled in CAD/CAM software like SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Fusion 360, and familiar with CNC programming.
- Working knowledge of G-code generation, post-processing, and NC file management.
- Experience or understanding of finite element analysis, motion analysis, and tolerance studies.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, Bills of Materials, and design specifications accurately.
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems and engineering documentation protocols.
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Interest or experience in automated or robotic manufacturing environments is beneficial.
Who Should Apply
This opportunity is suited for Mechanical Engineering students available for a full-time, in-office internship starting between July 15th and August 19th, 2026, who can commit to a six-month period and possess the relevant skills and passion for CAD-based mechanical design.
Compensation and Benefits
The internship provides a monthly stipend ranging from INR 10,000 to INR 12,000, alongside flexible working hours to support work-life balance.
