About the role
This position sits within People Operations and focuses on supporting employees and managers across the United States and Canada with workplace and leave accommodation needs. The role is centered on administering accommodation cases, handling employee and manager questions, and helping improve the broader accommodations program.
The ideal hire is highly organized, comfortable in a fast-moving environment, able to adapt quickly as priorities shift, and trusted to handle sensitive information with discretion. Clear communication, strong time management, and careful attention to detail are essential.
Key responsibilities
- Run the end-to-end accommodation process for both existing and newly hired employees.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and supporting documents in Oracle (HRIS) and leave management systems, while staying aligned with local legal requirements.
- Act as a point of contact for employees and leaders regarding medical and religious accommodations, offering guidance, education, and prompt follow-up.
- Handle religious and state-required accommodations in full compliance with regional rules.
- Create and distribute accommodation letters and formal notices as needed.
- Protect data quality by performing regular audits and preparing operational reports.
- Coordinate with employees, managers, HR partners, and outside vendors to manage accommodation matters effectively.
- Work closely with the Accommodations Program Manager and Employment Legal on complicated or escalated situations.
- Contribute to process-improvement efforts and assist with compliance-related projects as assigned.
- Manage a changing, high-volume caseload efficiently.
Qualifications and preferred background
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a related HR generalist, HR advisor, business partner, or project/program management role within human resources or benefits is required.
Helpful experience includes knowledge of US and/or Canadian employment practices, such as ADA, FMLA, statutory leave, and disability-related policies and laws. Experience with Workday, Oracle, or ServiceNow is considered an advantage.
Strong ability to coach line managers and peers on HR, benefits, and accommodation processes is valued, along with the confidence to help strengthen leadership capability. The role also calls for solid project management, stakeholder management, analytical reasoning, and the ability to solve complex and sensitive HR issues. Excellent written and verbal communication, administrative strength, customer service orientation, and comfort with technology are also important.
Compensation and benefits
For Chicago, Illinois-based roles, the base salary range is USD 81,000 to USD 90,000 per year. In addition to base pay, this position may be eligible for Uber's bonus program, an equity award, and other forms of compensation. Full-time employees are eligible for a 401(k) plan and various benefits.
Workplace expectations
Uber emphasizes office-based collaboration as part of its culture. Unless a role is specifically approved for full remote work, employees are expected to spend at least 50% of their time in the office. Some positions, including those at greenlight hubs, require full-time onsite presence. Candidates should confirm the exact arrangement with the recruiter.
