AI Engineering Intern

About the Role

SANOVIO is hiring one AI Engineering Intern to help design and ship end-to-end AI systems for procurement, one of the most complex workflows in European healthcare. This is a fast-moving, hands-on position suited to people who take ownership and enjoy building in real time.

In this role, you’ll work closely with a compact, high-performing team and gain practical exposure to building AI-powered products in a cross-border B2B setting. If you’re motivated by software engineering and AI, this is a chance to learn quickly, experiment, release real functionality, and see your work running in production.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute across the full stack to build AI agents and complete AI-driven workflows from start to finish.
• Enhance search and matching performance for products, suppliers, and documents.
• Create evaluation systems to track quality and support rapid iteration.
• Develop data pipelines that can handle large volumes of unstructured data efficiently.
• Increase the dependability of AI workflows using structured outputs, tool calling, and guardrails.
• Assist with backend improvements so systems remain scalable, stable, and efficient.

What They’re Looking For

• A strong sense of ownership and a builder mindset, with the ability to move quickly and execute.
• Exposure to or strong curiosity about NLP, LLMs, embeddings, machine learning, and AI applications.
• Initial experience in full-stack development, ideally with TypeScript and Python, along with React or Next.js.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, plus a willingness to pick up new technologies fast.
• Enthusiasm for high standards and for building software in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Readiness to work in person in Munich and operate with more intensity than a typical 9-to-5 role.

Interview Process

The hiring process has four stages:

• Intro call: an informal conversation with one of the founders to get acquainted and learn more about SANOVIO.
• Technical interview: a take-home challenge followed by a discussion of your approach, findings, and solution.
• Personal fit: a conversation with another co-founder to assess culture and working style alignment.
• Offer: if there is a strong match, you’ll receive an offer with a competitive compensation package.

Referral Bonus

If you refer someone who gets hired, you may receive a referral bonus of up to €500.

Additional Information

This is a part-time onsite internship in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. The role is described as more intensive than a traditional 9–5 arrangement.
