Role Overview

The Associate Merchandise Planner position is designed for individuals eager to develop their skills in retail and inventory planning within the fashion sector. This role involves assisting the planning team in creating and executing merchandise strategies that enhance sales and profit margins.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate in preparing seasonal merchandise plans and track weekly sales performance.
• Examine sales patterns, current inventory, and stock effectiveness to pinpoint potential challenges and growth areas.
• Support the maintenance of Open-to-Buy budgets and forecast models alongside senior planners or managers.
• Coordinate with buying, allocation, and merchandising teams to ensure strategic alignment and smooth execution.
• Generate detailed weekly and monthly analyses on sales figures, inventory status, and key performance indicators like sell-through rates and inventory turnover.
• Oversee product movement and delivery schedules to guarantee timely stock availability.
• Assist in developing markdown strategies and analyze promotional plans to optimize sales.
• Participate in reviewing post-season data to inform future merchandise cycles.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Retail Management, or an allied discipline.
• Between 1 to 2 years of professional experience in retail planning, merchandising, or relevant analytical internships, preferably in the fashion industry.
• A proven interest in fashion retail and operational processes.
• Proficiency with Excel, including working with formulas and complex reporting.
• Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent organizational and proactive problem-solving skills.
• Effective communicator capable of thriving in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
• Experience in fashion buying, planning, or allocation internships or roles is preferred.
• Familiarity with merchandise planning software or ERP systems such as Anaplan, SAP, or JDA is advantageous.
• Knowledge of retail metrics like sell-through rates, gross margins, and inventory turnover is expected.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a base salary range of $75,000 to $85,000 annually. This salaried role includes eligibility for additional benefits such as performance bonuses, long-term incentives, paid time off, and other progressive perks. Total compensation will reflect variables such as geographic location, expertise, and individual performance.
