Role Overview

The BI Developer will play a crucial role in transforming complex data into actionable business insights that drive performance and decision-making. This position involves hands-on development, maintenance, and enhancement of business intelligence solutions, including engagement with stakeholders across departments and contributing to a major data warehouse redevelopment project.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and refine dynamic dashboards and reports using Power BI.
• Convert intricate data sets into straightforward, insightful narratives that aid business evaluation.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, views, and datasets fundamental to reporting systems.
• Construct and sustain dependable data pipelines to facilitate efficient data ingestion and transformation processes.
• Collaborate with data custodians and business teams to translate requirements into viable technical designs.
• Resolve data lifecycle issues from source systems, ETL phases, to reporting interfaces.
• Continuously monitor and enhance performance metrics across reports, datasets, and queries.
• Support governance frameworks, documentation practices, and promote best standards for scalable and reliable reporting.
• Participate in advancing the organization's data and analytics capabilities.

Required Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated commercial expertise with Power BI and Power BI Service, including skills in dataflows, application management, and gateway configuration.
• Experience in designing and refining Power BI data models for optimal performance.
• Proficient in advanced SQL, with an emphasis on complex query formation, optimization, and handling large data volumes.
• Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT workflows, dimensional modeling, and data transformations.
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT technologies such as Azure Data Factory or SSIS.
• Capability to manage the complete lifecycle of BI solutions from initial requirements collection to deployment.
• Effective at stakeholder communication, bridging technical and non-technical dialogue.
• Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills paired with a keen attention to detail.

Preferred Additional Expertise

• Proficiency in Python for data analytics, automations, or pipeline management.
• Familiarity with SQL Server administration, including performance tuning and indexing.
• Expertise in advanced DAX formula development and optimization.
• Experience in fostering self-service BI through user training, documentation, or support.
• Background in e-commerce, retail, veterinary services, or consumer-driven industries.
