As part of Joom Group, a tech-driven e-commerce company founded in 2016 in Latvia, Joom includes additional ventures such as JoomPro (a B2B cross-border marketplace), JoomPulse (an AI-powered tool for Mercado Livre sellers), and Onfy, a pharmaceutical marketplace in Germany. The company has offices in Latvia, China, Germany, Brazil, and its headquarters in Lisbon, Portugal, operating as a unified international team.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Business Development Manager for the European market to spearhead merchant acquisition, nurture durable partnerships, and contribute significantly to the expansion of Joom's merchant base.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and recruit high-potential merchants from various European markets to enrich Joom Marketplace's product assortment, targeting those capable of generating substantial gross profit.
- Manage the entire acquisition pipeline by prioritizing markets and segments, developing sourcing channels, and systematically cultivating a wide network of e-commerce contacts.
- Engage with prospects and newly onboarded merchants through needs analysis, presenting Joom's value proposition, and professionally addressing objections.
- Lead negotiation processes and finalize agreements to establish mutually beneficial, long-term collaborations.
- Support new merchants through the onboarding journey, including product listing, commercial and logistical arrangements, documentation, driving them towards achieving initial sales milestones.
- Gather merchant feedback and communicate actionable insights to internal teams to improve launch processes and sales results.
- Monitor merchant and category performance data to implement optimization initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in key account management, business development, or seller incubation within e-commerce, marketplaces, or retail sectors.
- Deep knowledge of the European e-commerce environment and merchant requirements; a pre-existing network of European merchants is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated skills in negotiation, stakeholder influence, and deal closure.
- Practical and methodical approach to onboarding and nurturing merchants towards tangible sales outcomes.
- Strong analytical capabilities to interpret performance data and derive strategic enhancements.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in German, French, or Polish is beneficial.
- Preferred but not mandatory: background in fashion or retail (e.g., sneakers, apparel), familiarity with Cainiao, Vignette, Luchan logistics providers or local EU warehouses, and experience with China-to-Europe e-commerce transactions, including Chinese professionals based in Europe.
