About the Role
The Category Development Manager will lead category plans and turn market insights into actions that support business growth. The position calls for solid category management experience in FMCG or pharma, along with a strategic mindset focused on customer needs, market dynamics, and in-store execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and implement effective 4P plans using local success models and a strong understanding of shoppers, categories, and consumers to improve category performance.
- Work closely with Trade Marketing so that new product introductions and broader category plans stay aligned and best practices are shared.
- Adapt strategies and execution plans to match retailer priorities and support their commercial objectives.
- Negotiate practical, mutually beneficial outcomes with stakeholders and influence decision-makers to strengthen category presence and store execution.
- Take ideas from concept through to rollout in store, ensuring follow-through at every stage.
- Lead the range review process.
- Consider the wider impact of decisions and independent actions across other Reckitt teams and the broader business.
- Manage both short-term and long-term contractual tactics and strategies.
- Drive strong retailer relationships and push urgent, effective execution to achieve better store standards and retailer performance.
- Collaborate internally with National Account and Trade Marketing teams to ensure strategic priorities and practical tactics are delivered effectively.
Requirements
- Proven commercial judgement and a strong grasp of the customer management process.
- Ability to work through large amounts of complex information and translate it into clear, practical plans.
- Confidence communicating and operating effectively across all organisational levels.
- Strong working knowledge of syndicated data sources such as Nielsen, IRI, Spectra, panel data, and A&Us.
- Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Nitro or similar tools, plus basic familiarity with Spaceman or an equivalent system.
- Strong capability in influencing and negotiation.
