Curriculum Advisor

Position Overview

This permanent full-time role is based in Henderson, Auckland, with occasional travel to the Albany office. As a Curriculum Advisor, you will provide front-line support to early learning centers, schools, and Māori medium settings including kaupapa Māori and kōhanga reo. Working regionally, you will assist teachers and kaiako in designing and delivering curricula that enhance learning and wellbeing for children and youth.

Main Responsibilities

• Offer hands-on support to educators focusing on implementing high-quality curriculum with emphasis on literacy and numeracy development.
• Collaborate with parents, families, whānau, and iwi to co-create curricula that reflect the aspirations of all learners and their communities, aligned with national curriculum frameworks and local needs.
• Utilize and advise on curriculum guidelines and resources such as Ka Hikitia, Te Hurihanganui, Tapasā, Te Ahu o Te Reo Māori, wellbeing and mental health education, refreshed relationship and sexuality education guidelines, Hauora (curriculum), and social and emotional learning materials. Familiarity with Tāhūrangi is also required.
• Develop and maintain collaborative networks within communities to share best local educational practices.
• Possess strong knowledge of both primary and intermediate education curricula, with dual curriculum expertise considered advantageous.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated success in establishing and sustaining effective partnerships to achieve common educational goals.
• Expert curriculum design skills with in-depth practical experience in literacy, communication, or mathematics instruction at early learning, primary, or secondary levels or expertise in te reo matatini or pāngarau teaching within kaupapa Māori or Māori medium contexts. • Broad understanding and experience in teaching, leadership, curriculum, and assessment theories and practices, with the ability to facilitate educational change.
• Essential knowledge of te ao Māori and proficiency in Te Reo, tikanga, and mātauranga Māori, especially for roles in kaupapa Māori and Māori medium environments.
• Capability to apply Māori knowledge systems to improve curriculum design and advocate for Mana Ōrite mō te mātauranga Māori.
• Experience supporting curriculum development leading to demonstrable improvements for diverse communities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of practical educational settings.
• Commitment to uphold Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Positioned within Te Mahau | Education Services, this group delivers integrated education support focusing on enhancing learning outcomes and participation by addressing barriers and providing regulatory oversight and advice across early learning and schooling sectors. The group's priorities include improving practice guidance, ensuring effective integrated service delivery, and monitoring provider performance and educational improvements.

Additional Information

• Salary range: NZD 100,296 to NZD 121,490 per annum, plus KiwiSaver contributions. Salary will be commensurate with skills and experience.
