Role Overview

We are seeking a proficient Data Engineer with over two years of hands-on experience in creating and maintaining scalable data platforms and pipelines. The candidate should be adept in Python, Apache Spark, AWS services, and Snowflake. This role supports enabling advanced analytics and business intelligence through large-scale data system management. The position requires full-time onsite presence in our Toronto, Ontario office to foster collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and sustain scalable and dependable data pipelines utilizing Python and Apache Spark.
• Create and refine ETL/ELT workflows for processing both structured and unstructured datasets.
• Utilize AWS services such as S3, EC2, DynamoDB, Glue, and Lambda to deploy and manage data applications.
• Design, implement, and oversee data warehousing solutions with Snowflake.
• Collaborate closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other business stakeholders to gather and translate data requirements.
• Apply industry best practices to standardize and automate data pipeline development.
• Enforce security protocols, governance guidelines, and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in product development contexts.
• Demonstrate ownership and adaptability in a fast-changing environment typical of the quick service restaurant sector.
• Outcome-driven critical thinker capable of data analysis and visualization to promote ongoing business improvement.
• Comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced setting with clear, professional, and transparent communication.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
• More than two years of experience programming in Python, SQL, and Scala.
• Proven expertise in designing and managing complex real-time and batch data pipelines.
• Experience exceeding two years in big data technologies including Apache Spark, HDFS, Hadoop, and Hive.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline development using Terraform and Git.
• Hands-on experience building scalable, cloud-based data pipelines leveraging AWS Lambda, Glue, DynamoDB, and IAM.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Knowledge of Snowflake for data warehousing, modeling, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Databricks platform is advantageous.
• Background in loyalty program data management is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for Ontario-based candidates is $90,000 to $110,000 per year. Compensation may vary depending on qualifications such as experience, education, location, and skillset. The role is eligible for the company’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on individual and company performance. Additionally, employees might qualify for equity grants under the long-term incentive plan.
