Data Engineer (Projects)

About the Role

We are seeking a Data Engineer to lead and deliver key strategic data projects across New Zealand and Australia within Heartland Bank LTD. This position focuses on building modern data platforms and solving complicated data challenges, contributing significantly to business outcomes through data-driven solutions.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable data solutions using a modern cloud technology stack including Snowflake, dbt, Azure Data Factory, Data Vault 2.0, and AtScale.
• Work closely with stakeholders to influence and design solutions supporting regulatory reporting, finance analytics, platform migrations, and business transformation programs.
• Contribute to establishing best-practice data engineering standards within a growing financial services environment.

Required Experience and Skills

• Proven track record in delivering data engineering projects in live environments, including managing controlled releases and actively engaging with stakeholders.
• Expert hands-on experience with Snowflake and SQL for performance tuning and cost-effective solution design.
• Knowledge and practical support of dbt in production environments, encompassing modelling, testing, documentation, lineage, and deployment workflows.
• Experience in building and maintaining ingestion and orchestration processes, preferably with Azure Data Factory.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and Data Vault 2.0 to fulfill business needs.
• Expertise in implementing governed semantic layer solutions using AtScale or comparable tools.
• Background in regulated industries, adhering to strict data accuracy, governance, and traceability standards.
