Organization Overview
Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin (KIDO) embodies the KI Family Law and its Maamao Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin (MDK) model to provide child and family services uniquely tailored to the KI Nation. The program emphasizes Miinikozowin — the inherent authority of KI — aiming to restore traditional and spiritual teachings, fostering a balanced and thriving community through healthy families and culturally grounded children and youth.

Position Overview
The IT Technician will be a vital member of the internal MDK case management database system team, reporting to the Case Management Database Manager. The role involves ensuring the reliability, security, operation, and ongoing support of the MDK network infrastructure, database system, and related IT equipment and software.
Key Responsibilities
- Undergo comprehensive training on the MDK Service Model to fully grasp database and network system needs.
- Keep the Case Management Database Manager updated on database operations and emerging issues.
- Assist with preparing documentation and participating in meetings involving office and senior management.
- Coordinate with external IT support to establish and maintain policies, procedures, and training for network administration, proper usage, and disaster recovery.
- Handle daily operational management of all assigned servers, such as email, printing, backups, and software, as well as network hardware (routers, switches, hubs), ensuring uninterrupted network connectivity.
- Monitor and preserve stable operations of the MDK case management database with appropriate security measures.
- Collaborate with the internal database system team on system performance and maintenance.
- Manage network asset tracking, including maintaining inventories and related technical documents.
- Execute system backups and recovery procedures for network devices.
- Support the Case Management Database Manager in liaising with external IT and database providers to optimize network infrastructure and database functionalities in alignment with MDK needs.
- Coordinate with the MDK Training Unit and other program departments to inform, train, and onboard staff regarding developments and system usage.
- Monitor and assess database and network performance, producing relevant reports.
- Maintain communication with the database development company about operational updates and feedback.
- Guide support staff by assigning tasks, explaining procedures, and providing direction.
- Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all MDK operations.
- Operate and oversee the MDK Service Desk Support system to handle IT-related inquiries and issues, including ticket management and decision-making based on policy guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as required to support office IT functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated respect for KI culture, traditions, values, and the spiritual teachings foundational to KIDO.
- Familiarity with Anishininiimowin language and KI community principles.
- Background in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent IT experience.
- Certifications such as A+, Network+, MCTIP, or CCNA are considered advantageous.
- Between two and five years' experience in network and database management roles.
- Proficiency in computer system administration, security protocols, network and systems management, databases, data storage, and telephony systems.
- Knowledge of network and PC operating systems as well as cloud-based software.
- Understanding of data privacy laws, protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent organizational, critical thinking, decision-making, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel to multiple locations including KI, Thunder Bay, Sioux Lookout, Winnipeg, and other regional communities.
- Required to provide Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sector background checks.
