Role Summary
This full-time position based in Cork involves overseeing, developing, and maintaining the quality management system in accordance with accreditation standards such as INAB and ISO 17025 as well as Eurofins quality protocols. The Quality Manager will lead training and support within laboratory departments to ensure compliance and help meet business goals and customer expectations effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and continuously improve the Quality Management System, including the Quality Manual and related documentation to guarantee compliance across departments.
- Assist in policy formulation to fulfill accreditation, corporate, and client requirements.
- Support process optimizations, including digital transformation efforts within the Eurofins Food Testing Ireland division.
- Maintain accreditation status and act as the interface for regulatory bodies like INAB.
- Promote a culture of quality emphasizing accuracy and prevention across the organization.
- Coordinate communication and activities related to external and customer audits.
- Manage internal audit scheduling and execution, including verification audits, corrective/preventive action tracking, root cause investigations, and preventive strategies.
- Oversee document control ensuring procedures are reviewed regularly and harmonized.
- Supervise the Non-Conforming Work Log to ensure timely and effective resolution of issues.
- Assist departments with Extension to Scope submissions.
- Coordinate equipment calibration timelines and internal checks with departments and suppliers.
- Manage participation in External Proficiency Testing schemes to cover accreditation scopes.
- Analyze internal quality control and external proficiency trends, lead investigations, and implement corrective actions for failures.
- Maintain relevant reference documentation, legislation, and methods related to accredited activities.
- Prepare and coordinate reports, minutes, and action plans for monthly quality meetings and the annual management review.
- Support supplier and subcontractor management.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory sample handling and quality procedures, escalating deviations as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field.
- Current or aspiring full membership in a relevant professional body.
- Certified auditor with hands-on experience.
- Working knowledge of ISO 17025 Quality Management Systems.
- Practical experience in analytical chemistry, ideally within a high-volume contract laboratory or food industry environment.
- Understanding of contract testing laboratory operations covering food, dairy, water, and environmental sectors.
- Strong grasp of accreditation requirements and capability to apply technical expertise effectively.
- Good skills in technical troubleshooting, report writing, and statistics are advantageous.
- Highly motivated, proficient, and enthusiastic, able to thrive independently or within busy multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational ability, multitasking, and prioritisation skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills to foster collaboration with colleagues, regulators, and customers.
