Rail System Engineering Lead

About the Role

RINA is seeking a Rail System Engineering Lead to join its Abu Dhabi office within the Project Engineering Division. This role is crucial for overseeing the technical execution of substantial and complex rail projects, ensuring all deliverables adhere strictly to quality, safety, and industry standards. The Lead will coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors to fulfill project objectives and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical evaluation during the proposal stage, coordinating feasibility studies and collecting contributions to prepare comprehensive proposals.
• Determine necessary skills, resources, and efforts for successful proposal development.
• Ensure timely and quality delivery of technical aspects of projects, managing requirements and monitoring progress to adjust plans as needed.
• Manage and guide the project engineering team by allocating tasks and collaborating with engineers, technical staff, and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with the Discipline Manager for resource planning and adaptations.
• Implement and enforce quality control procedures to maintain compliance with project standards.
• Address safety and compliance issues in coordination with the Discipline Leader promptly to prevent risks or delays.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and oversee preparation of technical reports and client presentations, ensuring their precision.
• Provide mentorship and technical training to junior engineers to promote team competence.
• Facilitate communication between technical teams, project management, and stakeholders to ensure clarity on technical matters.
• Identify areas for continuous process improvement based on lessons learned from previous projects and implement enhancements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering coupled with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Over 15 years of experience working on technical projects, including 10-15 years managing projects through established project management methodologies.
• Strong interdisciplinary expertise in System Engineering, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety (RAMS) assurance for large-scale rail and mobility infrastructure projects.
• Comprehensive understanding of system design, implementation, and maintenance across several technical domains.
• Experienced in quality assurance and control processes.
• Proficient in RAMS activities and system safety processes including drafting safety documentation, conducting risk assessments, hazard analyses, and maintaining hazard logs.
• Experienced in interface and integration management, providing technical support during testing phases.
• Familiar with relevant industry standards and regulations such as ISO, ANSI, IEC as applicable.
• Strong analytical capabilities to assess technical risks and deliver effective solutions.
