Overview
The Risk Advisor will play a vital role within NZ Post's enterprise risk management function, acting as an independent partner to provide expert risk counsel, challenge, and assurance across diverse areas of the company. This position is based in Wellington, with hybrid working options considered.
Core Responsibilities
- Offer independent and trusted advice on risk issues to stakeholders throughout NZ Post.
- Assist with identifying and evaluating risks and support decision-making guided by risk principles.
- Promote consistent use of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework by conducting education sessions, workshops, and enhancing risk capabilities.
- Participate in enterprise assurance activities, including evaluating the design and effectiveness of controls.
- Detect and communicate emerging risks that are systemic or cross-functional.
- Develop and sustain strong stakeholder relationships while upholding second line independence.
- Deliver comprehensive reporting, insights, and guidance related to risk and assurance.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a pragmatic and collaborative risk professional who excels in partnering with various stakeholders to enhance risk management and foster improved organizational outcomes. Confidence in providing sound advice and constructive challenge is essential, along with the aptitude to form strong relationships in a complex enterprise.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in risk management, including hands-on involvement in a second line risk role.
- Deep understanding of risk theories, trends, and enterprise-wide risk management methodologies.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication skills enabling influence and trust-building with stakeholders.
- Proven track record in cultivating partnerships to achieve collaborative success.
- Ability to operate autonomously while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualification; professional certifications in risk management are advantageous.
