Role overview
We are hiring a Senior Design Engineer for a well-established civil engineering business known for delivering challenging infrastructure work across New Zealand. This position is suited to an engineer who enjoys complex temporary works and structural design assignments within major civil projects, while working closely with an experienced and collaborative team.
What you will do
- Create structural and temporary works designs for civil infrastructure projects.
- Develop temporary works solutions such as formwork, falsework, shoring, and other support systems.
- Use constructability thinking and modern construction techniques to strengthen safety, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Produce engineering calculations, drawings, and supporting technical documents to a high professional standard.
- Work with site and project teams to make sure designs are practical, safe, and buildable on site.
- Coordinate with teams from different disciplines and provide updates to senior engineering leadership.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience working as a Structural Design Engineer.
- Hands-on exposure to Temporary Works Engineering in civil infrastructure, including the design of temporary works and a strong grasp of construction methods and constructability.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Well-developed analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working effectively in a team-based environment.
Benefits
- Base salary of $140,000 to $160,000, with room to negotiate based on experience.
