Senior Motion Designer

Role Overview

This role is offered through a partner company seeking a Senior Motion Designer based in Canada. The position entails transforming concepts into captivating visual narratives through motion design, animation, and compelling storytelling across various digital platforms.

You will produce high-quality digital assets that enhance products, advertising campaigns, and overall brand exposure, combining artistic design expertise with advanced animation techniques to communicate visually with precision and originality.

Key Responsibilities

• Work jointly with art directors, copywriters, designers, and cross-disciplinary collaborators to conceive and develop innovative motion design concepts and solutions.
• Convert ideas, scripts, and initial concepts into detailed style frames, storyboards, and polished animated sequences.
• Create 2D animations, kinetic typography, visual effects, and dynamic scenes by utilizing illustrations, photography, and existing design elements.
• Produce motion graphics and video materials that are optimized for various digital platforms and user interface experiences.
• Incorporate audio elements such as music and voice to create unified and effective visual storytelling outputs.
• Uphold fundamental design principles including composition, pacing, hierarchy, and narrative flow in motion work.
• Ensure all motion graphics adhere to brand standards and maintain consistency throughout all produced content.
• Organize and manage project files efficiently, assimilate feedback from reviews, and iteratively refine designs through team collaboration.
• Support the launch of products, digital experiences, and marketing strategies with targeted motion design deliverables.

Candidate Requirements

• A minimum of five years’ professional experience as a Motion Designer, preferably within agencies, studios, or in-house creative departments.
• An established portfolio showcasing expertise in motion design, animation, user experience, and interaction design.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate design decisions and creative concepts clearly to stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of visual storytelling, composition, timing, and animation fundamentals.
• Experience in developing wireframes, prototypes, and concept visuals.
• Proficient in design and creative software tools including Figma, Sketch, Framer, Adobe XD, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Advanced skills with Adobe After Effects, particularly for animation and motion graphics production.
• Experience preparing assets for animation using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
• Familiarity with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of 3D animation and design software is advantageous.
• Effective teamwork and collaboration skills for multidisciplinary project environments.
• Detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of managing several projects simultaneously within a dynamic setting.
