Software Engineer - Edge Processor Team

About the Role

Join the Edge Processor team at Cisco in Seattle, WA, where you will help develop essential software responsible for collecting, transforming, and routing vast amounts of data generated at the edge. The role involves working across cloud-native services and customer-managed environments with a focus on delivering performance, dependability, security, and scalability.

This position is integral to Cisco’s Data Fabric framework, empowering real-time threat detection, compliance tracking, and operational insights through AI-driven technologies such as automated data extraction and self-healing pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including engineers and product managers to deliver well-defined features from design through release.
• Engage in the full software development lifecycle including requirement analysis, coding, testing, code review, documentation, and maintenance.
• Develop clean, secure, and maintainable code, while incorporating relevant tests; review and validate changes for functionality and performance.
• Conduct debugging and problem resolution during development; contribute to incident response, post-mortem analysis, and participate in on-call rotations.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

• Graduated within the last three years or be currently enrolled with expected graduation within 12 months in degree or certification programs such as Associate, Apprenticeship, Boot Camp, or Certification coupled with 3 years relevant experience;
• Hold a High School Diploma with 4 years relevant experience;
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields with 2 years relevant experience;
• Or a Master’s degree in relevant fields with no required prior experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or coursework related to distributed systems, networking, operating systems, databases, streaming, or high-throughput data systems.
• Familiarity with containerization, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, continuous integration/delivery, or software operating in customer-managed environments.
• Interest or experience in analyzing failures and performance using logs, metrics, and traces with a focus on secure and maintainable production software.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this full-time role spans from $111,700 to $157,200 annually, varying by location, experience, and other factors. Employees in the U.S. are entitled to comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) plan with matching, parental leave, disability coverage, life insurance, and potential stock grants contingent on employment duration.

Paid time off includes holidays, birthday leave, wellness days, vacation accrual (varies by employment type), sick leave with carryover, and volunteer days.
