Responsibilities

• Diagnose and fix software issues impacting real-world customers.
• Create software enhancements, fixes, and new features primarily utilizing C# and .NET frameworks.
• Engage with databases and application environments to identify and resolve technical problems.
• Participate actively in software design, development, testing, and deployment processes.
• Acquire an understanding of the operation and support of live production systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Software, System, Database, and Test Engineers across New Zealand and internationally.
• Propose improvements to boost system reliability, performance, and user experience.
• Engage fully in Agile workflows such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Develop technical and professional capabilities through mentorship and practical experience.

Essential Requirements

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field, or equivalent relevant practical experience.
• Hands-on experience with C# and .NET development environments.
• Willingness and availability to participate in an on-call support rotation.
• Capability to secure and maintain appropriate Police and Government security clearances.
• Based in Wellington or prepared to relocate there.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior exposure to C#, .NET technologies or comparable programming platforms.
• Knowledge of software engineering principles and current development best practices.
• Experience working with SQL or relational database systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skillset.

Additional Information

Participation in an on-call support roster is part of this role for maintaining essential customer-facing systems. Training and support from seasoned colleagues will be provided to ensure confidence in this responsibility.
