This role is offered in partnership with an external company handling all application procedures and subsequent processes. They seek an Applications Engineer specialized in Membrane Technology to be based in Germany. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing innovative water treatment solutions that emphasize sustainability and efficient resource use on a global scale. The focus is on designing and refining state-of-the-art membrane systems, integrating technical know-how with practical engineering applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop membrane water treatment solutions including ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and electrodeionization systems by conducting process calculations, sizing systems, and modeling performance.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation such as process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment specifications, datasheets, and initial design proposals.
  • Evaluate water chemistry data to enhance system effectiveness, detect fouling and scaling risks, and propose suitable treatment strategies.
  • Provide technical support to commercial teams by contributing to proposals, customer engagements, and solution engineering throughout the sales cycle.
  • Collaborate closely with global teams including Engineering, Research & Development, Product Management, and Operations to ensure project success.
  • Assist with pilot testing, product validation, technical evaluations, and deliver training internally and to customers.
  • Apply solid engineering judgment and problem-solving skills to create reliable, cost-efficient membrane technology solutions.
  • Contribute to ongoing process, product improvements, and enhancement of technical documentation within a global engineering context.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional involvement with membrane systems applied in industrial or municipal water treatment.
  • Hands-on experience with membrane selection, sizing, integration, and performance assessment.
  • In-depth knowledge of water chemistry and the capability to analyze water data for optimal membrane application and operation.
  • Familiarity with membrane system design tools such as ROSA, WAVE, IMSDesign, or equivalent software packages.
  • Competence in interpreting and creating engineering drawings and documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, and technical datasheets.
  • Strong analytical and structured approach to technical problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly convey technical information to both internal teams and customers.
  • Experience working effectively within international, remote, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory; additional Spanish or Portuguese language skills are advantageous.
  • Availability and readiness to travel internationally up to 20%, with a valid passport.
