About the Team
The Operational Due Diligence group, part of the Transaction Services International team, offers advisory and support services to Deloitte's member firms on a broad range of operational diligence engagements. Our expertise includes thorough operational investigations focusing on cost evaluations, synergy and carve-out analysis, standalone performance enhancements, and operational turnarounds across multiple industries. Our clients vary from private to public international entities of diverse sizes and complexities.
Working closely with Deloitte’s global operational teams, we support projects through their full lifecycle. Handling international projects that span different countries and service lines enhances your network within the extensive Deloitte global community and deepens your knowledge of worldwide industry best practices.
Role Overview
- Serve as an Assistant Manager in the M&A Operations Division within Transaction Services, fostering strong partnerships internally and with clients to surpass expectations.
- Support private equity, corporate, and banking clients in evaluating the operational strengths and weaknesses of acquisitions or disposals to optimize investment and loan outcomes.
- Collaborate with Corporate and Private Equity stakeholders to assess potential merger synergies, carve-outs, standalone improvements in buyouts, and revitalization plans for underperforming firms.
- Partner with Financial Advisory, Consulting, and Deloitte’s broader network to present a clear assessment of operational performance, gaps, and opportunities for enhancement.
- Understand and address challenges arising from diverse teams, employing effective strategies to tackle them.
- Commit to fostering an inclusive organizational culture.
- Deliver high-quality project outputs within scheduled deadlines.
- Assist Deloitte’s UK, Canadian, and European member firms in their Operational Due Diligence practices.
- Provide extensive support to Deloitte London’s leading Operational DD team, comprised of approximately 80 professionals with expertise in diligence, integration, and separation advising corporate and financial sector clients.
- Develop and scrutinize complex cost models across a spectrum of industries and international organizations.
- Analyze financial and accounting data, including statements and projections, to identify insights and validate assumptions.
- Coordinate with engagement teams in the UK, Canada, and Europe as needed.
- Manage demanding project timelines, contributing significant value to intricate and high-profile assignments.
- Exhibit strong diagnostic and analytical problem-solving abilities in business contexts.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification, preferably achieved on the first attempt, or an equivalent certification, accompanied by 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in consulting or line management roles focused on performance improvement, operational turnarounds, synergy identification/delivery, or transaction-related functions.
- Growth of skills within leading management consulting or corporate settings, ideally both.
- Exceptional report-writing capabilities, including thorough attention to detail, clarity, and managing risk elements.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel for swift and precise data handling.
- Strong academic record and professional achievements.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including proficiency in PowerPoint presentations.
- Demonstrated analytical and diagnostic business skills.
- Keen commercial insight and awareness of market trends.
- Motivation to work in dynamic and challenging environments.
- Capability to work effectively in deal settings with colleagues at various organizational levels.
- Ability to operate autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Prior exposure to transaction environments is considered advantageous.
