Stellenbeschreibung

Role overview

This position owns the transportation scheduling workflow, ensuring shipments are planned in a way that supports on-time delivery and efficient use of fleet and warehouse resources. The role requires data analysis, application of transportation planning models, and close coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

The planner is responsible for selecting the right carrier for each shipment in line with company policies, carrier agreements, the approved route guide, and available capacity information from visibility processes. Schedules must be updated when needed so that the final plan remains practical, workable, and ready for execution.

This role also monitors carrier acceptance and rejection activity, working under time pressure to resolve issues quickly. In addition, it acts as the point person for creating and updating shipment trip builds.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the transportation scheduling process end to end.
  • Plan, coordinate, and optimize shipment schedules to support timely deliveries and better use of logistics resources.
  • Use transportation planning models and data inputs to improve routing and shipment planning decisions.
  • Select carriers for each shipment based on policies, contracts, route guidance, and capacity availability.
  • Revise shipment schedules whenever operational changes require adjustments.
  • Track carrier acceptances and rejections and help resolve them quickly under tight timelines.
  • Serve as the main contact for creating and maintaining shipment trip builds.
  • Follow all scheduling procedures and process standards.
  • Promote effective use of transportation planning tools and technology.
  • Work toward service and productivity targets.
  • Optimize routes by balancing cost, transit time, fleet productivity, and SLA commitments.
  • Coordinate with warehouses, carriers, and customers on pickup and delivery requirements.
  • Choose carriers that reduce freight cost while improving operational efficiency.
  • Publish the final trip build by the agreed cut-off time, where applicable.
  • Partner with other transport planners to distribute workload and support business needs.
  • Work with transport execution teams to address capacity shortages and operational issues.
  • Support control, performance, and execution teams in identifying the root causes of carrier performance gaps.

Requirements

  • An engineering degree from a Tier 1 institute is required.
  • Approximately 2 to 5 years of experience in transport planning or a related logistics planning role.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, TMS, or similar logistics software.
  • Fluent English communication skills are required.
