Role Overview
This full-time, on-site position in Mangalore is for a baggage wrapper / luggage wrapper. The job centers on securely wrapping passenger bags using stretch-wrapping equipment to help protect them from damage, tampering, and weather exposure. The role includes welcoming travelers, explaining wrapping choices and charges, and processing cash or digital payments correctly. It also involves preparing and maintaining wrapping machines, keeping the work area neat, and complying with airport safety and security requirements. The position requires extended standing, handling luggage of different sizes, and working closely with airport personnel and teammates to keep operations running smoothly and deliver strong customer service.
Responsibilities
- Wrap passenger luggage neatly and securely using stretch-wrapping machines.
- Explain available wrapping options and pricing to travelers in a clear and courteous manner.
- Accept and process cash or digital payments with accuracy.
- Set up, operate, and maintain wrapping equipment during the shift.
- Keep the workstation clean, orderly, and ready for continuous service.
- Follow airport safety, security, and standard operating procedures at all times.
- Stand for long periods and safely lift, move, and position bags of different weights and sizes.
- Coordinate with airport staff and fellow team members to support smooth daily operations.
- Provide helpful, professional, and solution-focused customer service to passengers.
Requirements
- Strong customer service ability with polite communication and a helpful approach toward travelers.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Capability to handle, lift, and position luggage safely, including bags of varying weight.
- Careful attention to detail and steady hand skills for clean and secure wrapping.
- Basic numeracy and experience with cash handling or POS transactions.
- Dependability, punctuality, and readiness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to consistently follow procedures, safety rules, and airport security standards.
- Prior exposure to airport services, hospitality, retail, or another customer-facing environment is an advantage.
- High school education or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Willingness to complete role-specific training and security clearance checks.
