Job Summary
The Oaks Sunshine Coast Oasis Resort is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Commis Chef for their kitchen team. This position plays a vital role in supporting kitchen operations, involved in preparing and presenting quality dishes that contribute to exceptional dining experiences. The position is located in Caloundra, Sunshine Coast, and requires the flexibility to work a rotating roster that includes meals at different times without split shifts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing and presenting dishes across various kitchen sections.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff to maintain smooth and efficient service.
- Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organized, and compliant with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Proactively seek opportunities to enhance culinary skills and career growth within a professional setting.
- Provide support and mentorship to junior kitchen team members as needed.
Working Hours and Shifts
- Rotating roster that covers Monday through Sunday.
- Shifts include breakfast, lunch, and dinner services; dinner service concludes by 7:45 pm.
- No requirement for split shifts.
- Two consecutive days off per week.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage excluding superannuation: $36.81 (Mon-Fri), $44.18 (Sat), $51.54 (Sun).
- Overtime and penalty rates applicable.

Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a relevant Certificate III in Cookery and prior experience in a similar role.
- Familiarity with Modern Australian Cuisine.
- Knowledge of HACCP standards and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure within a dynamic team environment.
- Flexibility to work on various shifts including weekends.
- Capability to guide and encourage junior kitchen staff.
- Self-driven and able to work independently with little supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
