Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily field staking aligned with project designs.
- Measure and calculate material quantities accurately.
- Communicate survey layout details promptly and clearly to relevant stakeholders.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to survey layout and machine control data onsite, ensuring data accuracy and currency.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all survey equipment as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with Design Engineers to clarify project specifications.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least 2 years of substantial GPS construction layout experience using equipment such as Trimble or Topcon.
- Post-secondary education in surveying from a recognized technical institution is advantageous; a high school diploma is mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain cooperative relationships, fostering a positive team environment.
- Residence in Alberta is preferred, with project sites across Canada and a concentration in the Wood Buffalo area of Northern Alberta.
- Preparedness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Passing pre-employment alcohol, drug, and fitness assessments is required.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Current certifications (or willingness to obtain) including CSTS09/OSSA Regional, BSO or CSO, Intermediate First Aid, H2S Alive, Bear Awareness training.
- Provision of personal CSA-approved safety boots, at least 6 inches high and fully laceable.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to outdoor elements and varying weather such as rain, sun, and snow.
- Work environments with noise and vibration levels requiring adaptation.
- Capability to work up to 12-hour shifts, both day and night.
- Flexibility for rotational work schedules, including placements in remote areas, with accommodations provided.
