Role Overview
This position is based in Darwin and supports the commercial and contractual aspects of construction project delivery. Key activities include procurement, contract administration, cost management, and coordination of project activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage subcontract agreements through all stages including procurement, award, administration, and close-out phases.
- Assist in administering head contract and subcontract obligations as per contract terms.
- Prepare and evaluate variations, extensions of time, contractual notices, and progress claims.
- Develop scope of work documents, tender packages, and procurement documentation.
- Coordinate subcontractor tender processes, evaluate tenders, and provide recommendations.
- Track project budgets, commitments, expenditures and support cost control activities including forecasting and reporting.
- Maintain commercial registers, procurement and payment schedules, alongside project documentation.
- Assist with preparation of head contract claims, final accounts, and relevant commercial documentation.
- Identify contractual and commercial risks and contribute to their resolution.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors on contractual and commercial issues.
- Monitor procurement activities, subcontract deliverables, and key milestones.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of contract records, registers, correspondence, and commercial documents.
- Support project teams in keeping precise commercial and project records.
- Participate in project and commercial meetings, promoting effective communication between project delivery and commercial teams.
- Foster positive relationships with stakeholders contributing to a professional and high-performing team environment.
Candidate Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Commerce, Law, or associated field.
- Between 2 to 5 years of experience in roles such as Contracts Administrator, Contract Support, Commercial Administrator, or analogous positions within the construction sector.
- Thorough understanding of contract administration, procurement, and cost control methodologies.
- Hands-on experience in subcontract management, handling variations, progress claims, and procurement processes.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication capabilities.
- High level of attention to detail along with the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Competency in JobPac software, Microsoft Office suite, and project management or document control systems.
- Ability to function effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced project environment.
