Customer Delivery Driver

About the role

This position places you at the front line of Tesco’s home-delivery service, meeting customers at their doors and making sure every delivery feels helpful, smooth, and friendly. The job is not limited to driving; it also includes customer care, careful handling of shopping, and working independently across the day. Each shift can be different, and you’ll be backed by managers and colleagues at base whenever support is needed.

Availability window

• Thursday: 09:00 to 19:00
• Friday: 13:00 to 23:00
• Saturday: 13:00 to 23:00

Pay and hours

Pay begins at £14.18 per hour and increases to £15.45 per hour in stores within the M25. Some locations may provide extra payments. The role guarantees at least 16 hours each week, and positions with 12 hours per week are also available.

Key duties

• Keep the van, trays, and work area clean, orderly, and ready so shopping arrives in excellent condition.
• Load the vehicle safely and carry out all necessary checks to confirm it is roadworthy and prepared for delivery.
• Explain substitutions, order amendments, and short-dated items to customers in a clear and reassuring manner, including refunds when appropriate.
• Handle all products with care and attention so each order is delivered in top quality.
• Arrive within the agreed delivery slot and provide a friendly, natural service at the customer’s doorstep.

What you need

• Ability to work closely with colleagues and contribute to a strong team environment.
• A welcoming, approachable manner with both customers and coworkers.
• Comfort with changing customer needs and the flexibility to adapt while on the road and in store.
• A valid UK, EU, or EEA full or automatic driving licence held for at least 12 months.
• No more than 3 penalty points on the driving licence.
