Data Scientist

Position Overview

The Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in architecting cutting-edge agentic systems that transform how professional customers handle complex projects. This role focuses on developing autonomous AI functionalities that bridge simple search with sophisticated project quoting and fulfillment processes. Utilizing advanced Conversational AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Multimodal AI techniques, the role enables access to extensive enterprise catalogs, automates project and product configuration, and delivers real-time sourcing across a large product range.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement algorithms and models on large datasets to generate valuable business insights, often serving as a technical lead on analytic projects or independently managing solution development with high efficiency and quality.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and confidently to technical and business stakeholders to influence implementation and alignment, including preparing progress reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with internal customers and cross-functional teams by integrating business knowledge into solutions and aligning on project goals.
• Engage in continuous professional growth by exploring new developments in data science, creating reusable coded solutions, documenting projects thoroughly, and building a library of algorithms for future use.

Work Environment and Requirements

• Reports typically to a Manager or higher, with no direct reports.
• Overnight travel is expected to be under 10% of the time.
• Work is primarily sedentary, with occasional light movement or lifting.
• Workspace is an indoor, comfortable setting with infrequent adverse conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Must be 18 years or older and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Preferred: Master's in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 3 years of relevant professional data science experience focused on Conversational AI, Generative AI, agentic workflows, custom tool-calling, and reasoning trace frameworks.
• Advanced expertise with Retrieval-Augmented Generation and vector databases, especially for extracting complex technical specifications from unstructured enterprise data.
• Proven experience with Multimodal AI pipelines to interpret structured SKU-level intent from diverse inputs like images or handwritten notes.
• Strong background in similarity scoring and attribute matching algorithms to clarify ambiguous technical queries.
• Skilled in building stateful AI applications capable of maintaining context across multiple devices and sessions.
• Experience in B2B e-commerce, supply chain, or trade data domains is highly advantageous.
• Technical proficiency in modern scripting languages (preferably Python), data querying (Google BigQuery or SQL), statistical analysis, and prescriptive modeling techniques such as optimization, computer vision, recommendations, search, or natural language processing.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data presentation.
