Job Purpose and Responsibilities
The Director of Business Development will focus on expanding our clientele within the United States. Key duties include:
- Proactively identifying and pursuing new business prospects within assigned customer accounts.
- Building and sustaining strong, lasting relationships with key decision-makers and developing comprehensive understanding of customer organizations.
- Evaluating opportunities and formulating detailed business plans and sales approaches tailored to each customer account.
- Recognizing customer needs to identify PSI solutions and propose appropriate strategies.
- Collaborating with Operations to assemble sales teams and delivering presentations while briefing team members on client culture, operational practices, and sales techniques.
- Leading the full sales cycle, from team selection for pitches to presentation delivery.
- Coordinating with Proposal Development for proposal creation and aligning with Operations on strategy and pricing.
- Managing sales follow-ups and facilitating contract finalization.
- Ensuring smooth transition to project teams by sharing customer expectations and strategies.
- Maintaining communication between project directors/managers and providing escalation support for client issues.
- Gathering input to preemptively tackle scope changes, new prospects, or dissatisfaction.
- Negotiating changes in scope with customers alongside project managers and operations.
- Maintaining high visibility and engagement within customer organizations.
- Monitoring customer satisfaction through both formal and informal channels.
- Reviewing proposals and analyzing requests for proposals and protocols.
- Attending industry events to network, arrange meetings, and follow up with prospects.
- Serving as liaison between US clients and operations teams as needed.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences or equivalent education and experience.
- Proven track record in sales or business development, ideally within a Contract Research Organization (CRO) or healthcare services sector.
- Between 3 and 5 years of experience in CRO sales business development.
- Proficiency using Salesforce CRM.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and time management capabilities.
- Ability and willingness to travel for business purposes.
