Role overview
Join Apple’s Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) group, the team that supports the large-scale systems behind Apple’s customer and enterprise technology. This organisation powers critical services for billions of devices and secure transactions, helping keep Apple’s core technology running smoothly at massive scale.
Within IS&T, the Employee Experience and Productivity (EEP) organisation builds communication and productivity tools used across Apple, along with the systems that support Apple’s workforce. The Employee Engagement & Engineering (EEE) team is a small, globally distributed group that focuses on dependable, long-lasting systems and high-quality, user-focused experiences. The team also works with AI and system interoperability to make everyday interactions more seamless and useful.
What you will do
As an Early Careers Full Stack Software Engineer, you will work on both native Apple-platform applications and the backend services that support them. The role offers hands-on exposure to the full stack, including user interface development in Swift and SwiftUI, API integration, and service-layer engineering.
You will operate with guidance from senior engineers while owning well-defined tasks that span client and server work. This is an opportunity to build strong foundations in full-stack development within a small team where your contribution will be visible early on.
Responsibilities
- Create new features for native applications and the backend services that power them.
- Design and support RESTful APIs and service endpoints used by the application layer.
- Handle client-side data flows, including networking, caching, and persistence patterns.
- Develop automated tests across unit, integration, and API layers to improve quality.
- Review code across both client and server repositories.
- Troubleshoot issues that may arise anywhere from the user interface to API behaviour.
- Work closely with designers and senior engineers to interpret requirements and deliver functionality.
- Write clear documentation for APIs, data models, and integration approaches.
Requirements
- Practical understanding of native Apple-platform development.
- Basic familiarity with backend programming in Python, Java, Go, or a similar language, along with REST API design.
- Knowledge of relational databases and introductory data modelling.
- Experience using Git and working in collaborative development environments.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable experience is preferred.
- Exposure to production app delivery on Apple platforms is preferred.
- Awareness of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and container-based deployments is preferred.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows that cover client and server builds is preferred.
- Understanding of authentication, authorisation, and API security concepts is preferred.
- Experience using Apple-platform persistence tools such as SwiftData or Core Data is preferred.
