Electrical Technician - Substations

Key Responsibilities

• Install both high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems
• Set up switchgear, transformers, and protective devices essential for substations
• Conduct cable installation and carry out precise cable terminations
• Perform maintenance tasks and troubleshoot electrical faults effectively
• Carry out inspections and rigorous electrical testing procedures
• Support outage management and switching program execution
• Keep detailed and accurate site documentation, including test certificates
• Comply thoroughly with ESB/EirGrid safety protocols
• Engage in emergency response operations as necessary

Qualifications and Experience

• Must be a certified/trained electrician
• Possession of a valid full driving licence is required
• Holding a Safe Pass certification is mandatory
• QA/QC certification is advantageous
• Experience working with high voltage substations is preferred
• Strong practical skills in electrical installation and maintenance
• Ability to interpret and work with electrical schematics and drawings
• Dedicated focus on safety at all times
• Capacity to operate autonomously and collaborate within project teams
