About the Role

Located in Birkenhead, Wirral, this opportunity with a prominent construction and maintenance firm involves joining their office-based team as an Estimator. The role focuses on developing precise and competitive tenders for diverse construction and maintenance projects while collaborating closely with experienced project and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze tender documents to comprehend project scope, specifications, and contractual requirements.
• Identify potential risks, discrepancies, and incomplete information, escalating issues as necessary.
• Conduct site visits as needed to evaluate project conditions and constraints.
• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs using estimating software and detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, plant, and subcontractor expenses.
• Solicit and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Maintain and update estimating software with precise project details.
• Assist in compiling compliant tender submissions within client deadlines and support value engineering by proposing cost-efficient alternatives.
• Collaborate with contracts and project teams to ensure bids are practical, commercially viable, and executable.
• Engage in post-tender meetings and address client inquiries.
• Support creation of project handover documentation for successful bids.
• Participate in post-project reviews to compare estimates against actual costs to enhance future accuracy.
• Work in close partnership with estimators, project managers, commercial teams, and supply chain members.
• Keep abreast of material costs, market trends, and construction technologies.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Construction-related qualification such as HNC, degree, or equivalent experience in the industry.
• At least two years of estimating experience within the construction or maintenance field.
• Proven ability to carry out quantity takeoffs and prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
• Familiarity with estimating software and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Capability to perform under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
• Valid full UK driving license.
