Financial Controller

About the Role

Rheinmetall Barzan Advanced Technologies QSTP-LLC (RBAT), a joint venture focused on advanced defence and technology capabilities in Qatar, is seeking a Finance Controller to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This pivotal role involves maintaining precise, audit-ready financial data throughout the year, not merely at year-end. The Finance Controller will manage monthly closes, financial controls, IFRS compliance, and reporting, while leading the external audit process from start to finish.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage month-end closing processes, maintain the general ledger, and ensure the balance sheet is fully reconciled.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS standards, handle complex accounting issues, and prepare statutory financial statements.
• Lead the annual external audit and ensure clean and timely audit outcomes.
• Maintain internal controls and oversee statutory and tax compliance within Qatar, including group and shareholder reporting.
• Provide commercial support such as project cost control, pricing analysis, and contribution to bids and contract reviews.
• Coach and develop the accounting team to promote financial integrity that is sustainable beyond individual contributions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA, ACA, or CIMA).
• At least 8 years of finance experience, with significant exposure in senior controller or reporting roles.
• Demonstrated experience leading external audits as the primary client representative.
• Strong expertise in IFRS and proficient hands-on experience with ERP software.
• Solid commercial insights, capable of interpreting cost and margin details to guide pricing and bidding strategies.
• Highly detail-oriented with a control-focused mindset, able to serve as a versatile finance expert.

Preferred Background

Experience in a Big 4 audit firm followed by industry roles is advantageous. Experience in project-driven sectors such as defence, engineering, or contracting, along with exposure to GCC or Qatari business environments, will be highly valued.
