Role overview
This contract opportunity is for an experienced GitHub Architect to support a client engagement based anywhere in Australia. The assignment is expected to run for more than 12 months and is suited to a professional with deep expertise in GitHub, Azure DevOps, and repository migration environments.
The work involves partnering with Australian Government departments, so applicants must be Australian citizens with NV1 or NV2 security clearance and must also hold full working rights in Australia.
Key responsibilities
- Manage Git-based source control practices, including branching models and repository administration.
- Work extensively with Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise Cloud in a large-scale enterprise setting.
- Handle access control and permission design across Azure DevOps and GitHub platforms.
- Use GitHub CLI and related extensions to support administration and automation tasks.
- Review migration outputs, including logs and metadata, to confirm accuracy and completeness.
- Support pipeline-related work across Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
- Build automation and validation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Integrate APIs into scripts to support platform operations and verification workflows.
Required experience and expertise
- At least 12 years of hands-on experience with Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise Cloud.
- Strong command of Git version control, branching approaches, and repository management.
- Practical understanding of Azure DevOps and GitHub permission structures and access management.
- Experience using GitHub CLI and extensions in real-world environments.
- Ability to interpret migration logs and related metadata with confidence.
- Experience working with Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions pipelines.
- Solid scripting ability in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Working knowledge of APIs and how to embed them into automation scripts.
Preferred background
- Exposure to large-scale source code repository migration programs.
- Relevant certifications such as GitHub Foundations, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps are considered advantageous.
