Job Summary

The Heavy Duty Cleaner position involves comprehensive sanitation duties within casino, hotel, and kitchen environments by operating industrial cleaning machinery and ensuring adherence to safety and sanitation standards set by OSHA and the Health Department. This role plays a crucial contribution towards maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic space.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate advanced heavy-duty cleaning machines such as floor scrubbers, extractors, pressure washers, and other industrial equipment.
• Conduct thorough cleaning of kitchen components including hoods, vents, walls, floors, drains, and external surfaces of various equipment.
• Sanitize back-of-house areas with high activity, including dish rooms, prep areas, walk-in refrigerators, loading docks, and service corridors.
• Effectively remove accumulated grease from floors, walls, and kitchen machinery using approved chemical agents and proper tools.
• Execute scheduled deep cleaning projects like carpet extraction, grout cleaning, and high-level dusting.
• Maintain casino floors, public zones, and busy traffic areas in a sanitary state using industrial cleaning tools.
• Handle transportation and proper disposal of substantial quantities of trash, recyclables, and kitchen waste safely.
• Refill and manage chemical bottles with correct dilution processes and ensure labeling complies with OSHA standards.
• Follow all mandated Health Department, OSHA, and company regulations for chemical use and equipment operation.
• Provide assistance to kitchen leadership during cleaning for inspections, audits, and specialized projects.
• Keep storage spaces for equipment, tools, and supplies clean and organized at all times.
• Report any maintenance concerns or machine malfunctions promptly to supervisors.
• Offer support to other departments requiring heavy-duty cleaning assistance.
• Exhibit professionalism and courtesy consistently while maintaining positive working relationships.
• Wear assigned uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPE), name badges, and meet appearance standards.
• Attend all mandatory training sessions and departmental meetings.
• Carry out additional tasks or special assignments as directed.

Required Qualifications and Attributes

• Preferably have experience operating industrial heavy cleaning equipment.
• Familiarity with kitchen sanitation protocols and back-of-house cleaning techniques is advantageous.
• Ability to comprehend and follow written instructions such as chemical labels, safety instructions, and visual guides.
• Able to work effectively in wet, greasy, confined, or hot environments.
• Respond promptly to radio communications.
• Strong focus on cleanliness, detail, and safety compliance.
• Capacity to function independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
• Physical ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

Additional Work Requirements and Conditions

• Comfortable working amidst casino conditions including loud noises, smoke, bright lighting, wet surfaces, and varied temperature exposures.
• Adapted to kitchen environments where exposure to heat, steam, grease, and cleaning chemicals is routine.
• Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling heavy equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Physical agility to bend, reach, climb ladders, kneel, and carry out repetitive cleaning motions.
• Stamina to stand and walk for long durations.
• Full compliance with organizational policies, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.

Compensation

Starting hourly wage is set at $19.50.
