Inventory Control and Systems Manager

Role Overview

The Inventory Control and Systems Manager leads efforts to ensure precise inventory accuracy, control processes, and transactional integrity across the company’s systems. Acting as the main business owner for inventory procedures within key platforms like NetSuite and RF-SMART, this role collaborates extensively with Production, Warehouse Operations, Purchasing, Logistics, Accounting, and Supply Chain teams to drive system utilization and process compliance.

Key Duties

• Direct overall inventory accuracy and reporting metrics company-wide.
• Formulate and oversee inventory control strategies aligned with operational and financial goals.
• Develop governance policies, controls, and standardized operating procedures for inventory management.
• Lead investigations into inventory discrepancies, conducting root-cause analyses and implementing corrective measures.
• Establish accountability frameworks for inventory accuracy across multiple departments including Operations and Purchasing.
• Design and administer cycle count programs covering raw materials to finished goods.
• Analyze inventory adjustments to identify trends and risk areas, ensuring timely resolution of variances.
• Coordinate physical inventory counts and collaborate with Accounting for month-end and year-end reconciliation efforts.
• Oversee inventory-related technology including NetSuite, RF-SMART, and scanning systems, ensuring accurate and consistent transaction processing.
• Identify opportunities for automation and spearhead system enhancements through testing and validation.
• Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and KPI scorecards to support management decision-making.
• Analyze inventory flows from receiving through shipment to recommend process improvements enhancing transaction precision and real-time visibility.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives targeting inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Purchasing, Production, Warehouse, and Accounting teams to optimize inventory planning, consumption tracking, handling, and valuation.
• Provide training and coaching regarding inventory procedures throughout the organization.
• Develop monthly inventory performance reports with root-cause analysis and corrective actions, and present findings to leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Logistics, or related discipline; equivalent experience considered.
• A minimum of five years’ experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, supply chain, manufacturing, or ERP systems.
• At least three years in a leadership role preferred.
• Background in manufacturing, agriculture, food production, or consumer packaged goods industries is highly desired.
• Experience with ERP inventory systems implementation or management.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in ERP systems, with NetSuite preferred.
• Familiarity with RF-SMART or comparable warehouse management scanning technologies.
• Advanced skills in Excel and data analysis.
• Ability to generate reports, dashboards, and KPI metrics.
• Understanding of inventory accounting and valuation methods.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The role is primarily based in a general manufacturing setting, involving exposure to varying weather conditions including extremes of heat, cold, rain, wind, and snow. Work areas include the plant and surrounding grounds, with proximity to moving machinery, material handling equipment, and exposure to noise, dust, and ergonomic hazards.

Office duties occur regularly in a standard office environment utilizing computers, phones, and typical office machinery. Physically, the job requires frequent standing, walking, manual handling of items weighing 30-50 pounds, reaching, and occasional climbing or working in confined spaces. Communication in fluent English is essential.
