Inventory Planner

Role overview

Based in Houston, Texas and part of the Supply Chain department, this Inventory Planner / Buyer role focuses on keeping inventory aligned with customer demand while preventing overstock in slower-moving and lower-margin categories. The position plays an important part in controlling costs, strengthening vendor relationships, and supporting profit growth.

In this role, you will back internal stakeholders through day-to-day work and project support, while also contributing to team and individual goals that support professional growth within the company.

What you will do

• Track purchasing needs and keep inventory at appropriate levels.
• Review demand, urgency, and supply constraints to decide the most effective way to meet requirements.
• Help define replenishment settings and influence ordering levels for stocked items.
• Plan advance buys and delivery schedules using demand trends and growth forecasts.
• Keep the purchasing team and leadership informed about changes affecting sales or vendors.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders to suppliers.
• Work through issues related to shipping, pricing, and quantities.
• Prepare and distribute POS and consignment reporting.
• Act as a bridge between internal teams and external customers to resolve concerns.
• Review, clarify, and respond to customer forecast inputs.

What we are looking for

• A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in a buying, planning, or similar role.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems that support forecasting and demand planning.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Proven ability to improve performance across a defined supplier base.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting ability and a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
