Role Overview
The IT Systems Specialist will be pivotal in supporting technology across multiple facilities by providing training, technical assistance, and troubleshooting to end-users. This role ensures the effective deployment and functioning of all IT systems, resolving hardware, software, and network concerns, managing user accounts, and assisting in introducing new technologies to improve organizational operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical support and troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripherals via multiple communication channels including phone, email, remote access, and onsite presence.
- Identify and resolve issues affecting desktop and laptop computers, printers, and related IT equipment.
- Perform installation, configuration, and updates of operating systems, applications, and security patches.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights utilizing Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and other systems.
- Configure and oversee local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN) to maintain secure, dependable connectivity across sites.
- Troubleshoot network components such as routers, switches, wireless access points, and VPN connections.
- Manage network security tools including firewalls and content filtering to safeguard company infrastructure.
- Contribute to technology planning, testing, and implementation efforts including system and network upgrades.
- Maintain detailed documentation of hardware assets, support tickets, solutions, and network/system configurations.
- Train end-users in effective utilization of desktop systems and software platforms.
- Keep current with advancing technologies and industry standards to continuously enhance professional expertise.
- Enforce IT policies, procedures, and security standards to protect organizational data integrity and ensure compliance.
- Engage in special IT projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Between 1 and 3 years of practical experience in roles like IT Systems Specialist or Network Technician.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Windows and macOS desktop environments, and productivity suites including Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN, coupled with hands-on management of network hardware like switches, routers, and wireless devices.
- Adept at diagnosing and solving hardware, software, and connectivity problems.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support and educate end-users effectively.
- Proven ability to work independently and prioritize in a dynamic multi-site setting.
- Preferred certifications include CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or equivalent credentials.
