Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated IT Technical Support Engineer to join our IT department at eXtra (United Electronics Co.) in Al Khobar, Eastern Saudi Arabia. The role involves hands-on maintenance and support of computer hardware, software, networking devices, and collaboration tools to ensure optimal IT infrastructure performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, diagnose, and repair PCs, printers, and other IT peripherals.
- Set up and troubleshoot networking equipment, including cabling, switches, access points, and network printers when required.
- Install and support approved collaboration software tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, WinZip/WinRAR, McAfee Virus Scan, and related client software.
- Provide advanced second-level technical support to resolve complex issues efficiently.
- Analyze technical problems, researching creative solutions using vendor resources and internal knowledge.
- Log, prioritize, and track all support requests through the IT ServiceDesk system, adhering to established processes to prevent SLA breaches.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on hardware and software systems diligently.
- Conduct appropriate hardware and software upgrades to maintain systems up-to-date.
- Monitor system reliability and performance, reporting issues promptly.
- Contribute to IT projects as assigned by management.
- Offer support during after-hours and weekends on an occasional basis.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least one year of practical experience in IT technical support roles.
- Certification in hardware such as CompTIA A+ or an equivalent qualification is required.
- Proficiency with computer software applications.
- Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification is preferred.
- Interconnecting Cisco Devices (ICND) certification is advantageous.
- Experience working with Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong skills in LAN and WLAN troubleshooting as well as hardware and software installation and repair.
