Job description
Overview
The Lead Design Engineer for Data Enablement holds comprehensive technical leadership and accountability for Tait Communications' data-related products and platforms. This covers analytics, data, and telemetry application initiatives, ensuring cohesive product architecture, integration, and scalable delivery as the data offerings expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the complete technical lifecycle of Tait’s data domain products, guaranteeing architectural uniformity, code quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Direct tactical enhancements to generate short-term commercial value in various markets.
- Lead development of long-term technical strategies for data initiatives, collaborating closely with the Data Architect to translate plans into actionable technical execution.
- Manage oversight of outsourced development activities to ensure adherence to company standards, architecture intentions, and protection of intellectual property.
- Safeguard critical system knowledge and key technical decisions within internal teams.
- Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks affecting scalability, security, operability, and complexity.
- Serve as a senior technical authority, mentoring engineers, establishing engineering standards, and reviewing system designs to uphold engineering excellence.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced senior engineer with leadership capabilities across complex systems and full product life cycles.
- Expertise in designing and evolving multifaceted systems, including implementation, testing, and integration phases.
- Strong skills in architectural evaluation, capable of comparing design alternatives and forecasting impacts on scalability and maintainability.
- Proficient in diagnosing and resolving challenging technical issues; skilled in mentoring others to enhance design and engineering quality.
- Experienced with managing or overseeing external software development, emphasizing quality control, sustainability, and knowledge retention.
- Sound judgment in assessing and managing technical and delivery risks.
