Role Overview
This is a senior HR operations position for a U.S.-based remote hire, presented through a hiring partner that handles applications and follow-up steps. The company is looking for someone who can design, run, and improve people operations for a rapidly expanding, high-performance organization.
The role centers on managing end-to-end HR operations, including benefits administration, employee lifecycle processes, and oversight of HR systems. You will work closely with Payroll, Finance, IT, Legal, and business leaders to create efficient, compliant, and scalable people processes. A strong mix of process improvement, systems knowledge, and hands-on execution is needed to support a complex, growing environment.
This position has a major impact on operational efficiency, automation, data quality, and the overall employee experience as the business continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full spectrum of HR operations, such as onboarding, offboarding, employee status changes, and personnel file maintenance, so employees experience a smooth lifecycle.
- Run benefits administration across health, welfare, retirement, and leave programs, and help coordinate open enrollment and employee communications.
- Work with brokers, providers, and internal teams to deliver benefits effectively, maintain compliance, and control costs.
- Coordinate with Payroll to keep employee records accurate, support on-time payroll processing, and maintain consistency across HR tools and records.
- Administer HR systems by setting up configurations, workflows, reporting, permissions, and data quality controls within HRIS platforms.
- Create, improve, and roll out HR policies, procedures, and operating processes that can scale with business growth and regulatory needs.
- Support compliance with U.S. and Canadian employment laws, and assist with audits, reporting, and regulatory obligations alongside Legal and Finance.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and data-driven insights to help guide HR decisions and workforce planning.
- Own HR operations projects from planning to completion, with a focus on ongoing improvement across systems and processes.
Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years specifically in HR operations, benefits administration, and HR systems work.
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
- Background in a high-growth, startup, or fast-scaling environment; experience in biotechnology or life sciences is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of HR operations, employee lifecycle management, and benefits programs.
- Practical experience with HRIS platforms such as Paylocity or comparable systems, including configuration, reporting, and optimization.
- Solid knowledge of U.S. multi-state employment rules; familiarity with Canadian HR practices is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and operational quality.
- Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with Finance, Payroll, IT, and leadership.
- Highly organized, detail-focused, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment that changes quickly.
Benefits and Perks
- Annual compensation range of USD 135,000 to 155,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Fully remote work arrangement within the United States.
- Opportunity to help shape and expand HR operations in a fast-growing biotechnology setting.
- Regular collaboration with Finance, Payroll, IT, and senior leaders.
- Participation in strategic HR systems and process transformation work.
- Periodic travel for team and company events.
- Exposure to advanced HRIS tools and data-led HR operations.
- Chance to influence employee experience and operational excellence at scale.
