Job Overview
This role seeks a versatile engineer skilled in diagnosing and solving design and manufacturing challenges related to electro-mechanical assemblies. You will act as the critical interface between design teams and manufacturing groups, including contract manufacturers, and collaborate with operations, supply chain, quality assurance, and engineering departments to address manufacturing and quality concerns.
Primary Responsibilities
- Determine root causes of issues by supporting investigations, analysis, and prioritizing corrective and preventive actions.
- Engage with internal and contract manufacturing personnel as well as customer service teams to clarify reported problems and gather essential context.
- Analyze assembly procedures, field performance data, and quality assurance tests to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
- Manage a comprehensive issue database to identify trends, measure updates' effectiveness, and support continuous improvement metrics.
- Develop manufacturing processes, procedures, and standards for both in-house and contract manufacturing environments.
- Collaborate closely with supply chain and contract manufacturers to monitor electronic component lifecycles, research replacements, and coordinate engineering change orders with design teams.
- Troubleshoot production hardware issues down to circuit board and individual component levels.
- Lead product transitions from development to production stages.
- Assist in the creation and validation of test equipment, as well as defining test requirements and procedures.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in sustaining electro-mechanical and electrical assemblies, including failure analysis and addressing obsolete components.
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Background in automation environments involving electro-mechanical and electrical assemblies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience.
- Competent with PC usage in Windows operating systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality teams, and customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills paired with strong interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Linux and associated tools.
- Skills in analog and digital circuit analysis, including signal characterization, modeling, and simulation within electronic subsystems.
- Experience proposing and implementing circuit and subassembly design modifications.
- Familiarity with ISO standards.
