Overview
This role demands an experienced mechanical technician and supervisor responsible for performing and overseeing detailed maintenance tasks on Typhoon aircraft and their components. A thorough understanding of approved technical data is essential, along with the ability to lead personnel following maintenance protocols within regulated frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed maintenance, inspection, and supervision activities related to the Typhoon aircraft and its components.
- Ensure all tasks are conducted as per work packages and approved technical information.
- Diagnose and resolve faults, manage maintenance issues including configuration controls.
- Complete maintenance and diagnostic jobs such as ground handling, flight servicing, role changes, part removal, inspections, repairs, upgrades, and system tests.
- Maintain a proactive and adaptable approach to assigned duties and follow directions appropriately.
- Hold and maintain personal authorizations for working on aircraft and components.
- Ensure maintenance schedules are met and issues escalated when necessary.
- Evaluate faults during maintenance and raise ad hoc work cards for unforeseen issues.
- Supervise team performance, ensuring task completion within schedules and flagging program impacts.
- Confirm team competence and approval for assigned maintenance tasks.
- Support facility compliance tasks aligned with Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and Functionally Mandated Procedures such as oversight checks and control of tools/test equipment.
- Provide leadership and mentorship, including performance assessments and supporting training initiatives.
- Conduct independent inspections and maintain inspection standards.
- Maintain a personal Log Book exhibiting skill currency and On-the-Job Training completion; authorize others' logbooks within trade limits.
- If designated, approve task competencies and review licensing applications prior to submission.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, preferably in Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent military qualification.
- Minimum academic certification: City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent; aircraft platform training mandatory.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge and competency within the specialisation.
- Understanding of team integration and continuous improvement principles.
- Minimum two years’ experience as a Technician before supervisory role.
- Documented skill currency, knowledge, and authority via Log Book for work on aircraft or bays.
- Strong practical expertise in aviation safety standards, safe operating procedures, and exposition/mandated procedure knowledge.
- Completion of relevant training including PDR, Leadership Foundation, Human Factors, E&PW Awareness, ITAR Awareness, IT literacy, Qatar GFx Fire Training.
- Adherence to risk assessments, Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) policies, and procedures.
- Specific training in Typhoon Composite Flight Servicing and Mechanical Trade ‘Q’ Course.
