About the Role

Our client, a prominent multinational company, is recruiting an experienced Operations Director to oversee operational performance at multiple sites across Ireland, with expanding responsibilities into the UK as the business grows. Reporting to the Managing Director, this newly established position will concentrate on enhancing profitability by controlling costs, boosting operational efficiency, and embedding best practices within warehousing, logistics, and supply chain functions.

This leadership role entails full accountability for operational outcomes, crafting scalable operational systems, and driving continuous improvements that deliver quantifiable cost reductions, elevated service quality, and increased profit margins.

Key Duties

  • Oversee operational activities at various Irish facilities, extending oversight to UK operations in due course.
  • Foster a culture emphasizing accountability, safety, and perpetual enhancement.
  • Manage and optimize warehousing, logistics, and supply chain functions to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Control operational expenditures, budgets, and profit & loss statements while identifying avenues to bolster profitability and cut costs.
  • Evaluate and improve third-party logistics providers, freight, and distribution expenses.
  • Initiate strategies to minimize obsolete stock, enhance inventory control, and optimize stock levels.
  • Championship margin enhancement efforts through process refinement and cost-saving measures.
  • Create, implement, and harmonize standard operating procedures across all operational teams.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as warehouse profitability, cost per order/delivery/pick, vehicle utilization, and inventory metrics.
  • Leverage ERP, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and business intelligence tools to facilitate informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Apply Lean methodologies, Six Sigma tools, and process mapping techniques to uplift operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO, BRC, and IFS quality standards while supporting risk management, insurance protocols, and governance structures.
  • Assist in lease evaluations and management of property condition and dilapidation controls when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive leadership experience in warehousing, logistics, and supply chain operations within a multinational distribution context.
  • Proven capability in cost reduction, operational efficiency improvement, and profit growth.
  • Strong financial management skills including handling operational budgets and P&L responsibility.
  • Experience overseeing third-party logistics partnerships and warehouse/logistics performance management.
  • In-depth understanding of inventory management techniques, stock optimization, and warehouse performance indicators.
  • Practical knowledge of establishing SOPs, Lean processes, Six Sigma projects, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms, Warehouse Management Systems, and Business Intelligence reporting tools.
  • Essential prior experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Outstanding leadership qualities with proven ability to drive change and operational excellence across multiple sites.
