Patient Transporter

Overview

The Patient Transporter plays a crucial role in the healthcare facility by safely transferring patients between various areas such as diagnostic, treatment, and discharge zones. The position emphasizes ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality while maintaining clear communication with the medical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely escort patients across departments while preserving dignity and comfort.
• Assist patients in and out of wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds using correct lifting methods and appropriate equipment to avoid injury.
• Coordinate with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to manage and prioritize transport requirements.
• Ensure transport equipment remains clean and sanitized according to infection control standards.
• Adhere to patient handling safety protocols and promptly report any hazards or incidents.
• Support the relocation of medical equipment, supplies, and documentation as needed to facilitate patient care.
• Deliver excellent customer care, providing emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during transport.
• Accurately document all transport activities in logs or electronic systems.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
• Comply fully with hospital policies and standards.

Qualifications

• Between zero to one year of relevant experience in healthcare or patient assistance roles.

Skills and Competencies

• Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication and compassionate patient care abilities.
• Fundamental understanding of patient transport safety and infection prevention methods.
• Physical capability for safely lifting and moving patients.
• Ability to adhere to instructions and collaborate efficiently in a dynamic environment.

Certifications

• Completion of Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required by the conclusion of orientation.
