Role overview
Auckland Council is looking for a driven Programme Coordinator to support the newly created Auckland Urban Development Office. In this permanent full-time role, you will help coordinate sustainable and place-based regeneration programmes, working closely with the Priority Location Director, project leads, and other team members to keep delivery on track.
What you will do
- Support the planning, refinement, and maintenance of programme and project plans.
- Track progress across programmes and projects, and share updates on timelines, objectives, costs, benefits, risks, and changes in a timely manner.
- Help drive delivery so that work is completed on schedule and within budget.
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with quality checks by reviewing, auditing, and improving programme and project documentation and information.
- Provide secretariat and governance support, including organising meetings, preparing presentations, and helping manage decision-making processes.
- Offer technical support and practical guidance to Project Leads and the Priority Location Director.
What we are looking for
We are seeking someone with solid programme and project coordination experience, strong financial awareness, and the confidence to operate within a structured governance environment. You should understand project management frameworks and the project lifecycle, and be comfortable supporting reporting, planning, and stakeholder coordination in a local government setting.
Additional requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar programme or project coordinator position.
- Experience working within an established Programme or Project Management Framework.
- PRINCE2 or Agile qualification, with interest in stepping up into project management.
- A full clean New Zealand driver’s licence is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and Outlook.
- Understanding of local government processes.
