Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager at Lids in Kingston, ON, is responsible for leading all facets of store operations while fostering exceptional experiences for customers and staff. This role sets the foundation for a vibrant sales environment, cultivates a motivated team, and ensures daily operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily store activities including opening/closing procedures, staff scheduling, inventory control, visual merchandising, and adherence to company policies and loss prevention standards.
- Utilize key performance indicators to guide and develop the sales team, drive revenue growth, and maintain a clean, organized, and appealing retail space.
- Focus on expanding Lids’ Custom business by training associates to confidently present embroidery and personalization services, delivering memorable customer interactions, and pursuing opportunities with local sports teams, schools, businesses, and community groups.
- Lead by example, nurture talent, hold team members accountable, and foster an inclusive, positive workplace culture where employees and customers feel appreciated.
Candidate Qualifications
- Previous management experience in retail, ideally within apparel, accessories, sporting goods, or specialized retail sectors.
- Proven leadership skills with an ability to coach and develop a successful sales team.
- Excellent customer service aptitude and a passion for creating outstanding shopping experiences.
- Track record of meeting sales targets and utilizing performance data to enhance results.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational capabilities.
- Experience managing scheduling, inventory, merchandising, and daily store workflows.
- Familiarity with retail loss prevention and compliance procedures.
- Comfort in promoting and increasing sales of custom embroidery and personalization services through in-store efforts and community outreach.
- Proficient with POS systems and basic Microsoft Office software.
- Availability for flexible working hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift weights up to 30 pounds.
